As a research scholar and social entrepreneur with more than a decade of research, monitoring, evaluation and strategy consulting, I specialize in Participatory and Rural Development, Sustainable Development, Biodiversity Conservation, Sustainable Forest Land Management, Land use and Livelihoods, Community Conservation, Gender Participation and Sustainable Resource Management. Focusing on Africa’s land use, biodiversity and sustainable development using participatory approaches and nature-based solutions to address social-environmental issues.
I use a variety of applied science and social science conceptual frameworks with mixed methods to identify and address complex social, environmental, sustainability and development issues, particularly in Africa. Using both qualitative and quantitative methods, including participatory methods, GIS mapping and institutional analysis to carry out research and data analysis. Essential to this, is the use of my broad knowledge and expertise in tropical forest governance, land use planning and biodiversity conservation in the Congo Basin, Central Africa.

I focus on environmental sustainability, biodiversity conservation, sustainable land use management, sustainable forest management, sustainable resource management, food security in tropical forest regions, forest governance in the Congo Basin, nature-based solutions and community integration through the use of alternative participatory approaches, community forest management, agroforestry, community participation and sustainable development in African communities.
Other specific areas include gender participation/inequality, social-ecological impact, community-based conservation, climate change resilience and adaptation in forest communities in Africa and most importantly, integrating Indigenous people and local communities (IP & LCs) in the management and decision making of the biodiversity conservation – land use – sustainable development framework.
